Team 1 at the 2002 ROAR Carpet Oval Nationals
In April, the 2002 ROAR Carpet Oval Nationals was hosted at Classic Hobbies in Akron, Ohio. 119 entries fought changing track conditions due to the relentless rain during the event. Racing was fierce and quite competitive. Anytime one has a high traction carpet, banked corners, and competitive nature, you have the recipe for good racing.

Team 1 at Classic Hobbies Add to the mixture a talented team of drivers and support from Team 1, the competition and the results showed why Team 1 is leader in R/C motor building and racing. Leading the way was Monti Panzica of Indy who laid the smack in 19-turn class by TQ'ing. Not only did Monti TQ in 19-turn, but he qualified 5th and finished 9th in 4-cell mod. Monti did not run the mains in 19-turn to assist in concentrating on his mod run. Kevin Koback also of Indy qualified 8th and finished 10th in 4-cell mod as well.

Jamie Tennies of West Bend, WI returned to his winning ways (former PROCAR champion) and qualified 7th in 19-turn and finished 5th overall for the weekend. Corey Heft of Oshkosh, WI and Brian Fairchild of Green Bay, WI finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the 19-turn B-main.

Koback also ran his 1/12th scale 4-cell mod ride to a 5th place qualifying position and finished 4th overall. Corey Heft and Kenny Bergschultz finished 5th and 6th in the 1/12th scale B-main.

Dusty Kemp, Indy; Jeff Skomski of West Bend, WI and Brian Fairchild finished 6th, 8th and 10th respectively in the 4-cell stock class B-main.
